These brownies are moist, tasty, and so easy to make.
A few days ago, I was looking for a recipe in my recipe “file” – (i.e., a large box of jumbled-up odd-size scraps of paper, oil-stained pages of recipes, newspaper clippings, recipes from old magazines….), and I came across this recipe which I had jotted on a “place-card” from a wedding, probably ages ago; I have no idea where I got it from; I must have seen the recipe in a magazine while waiting for a dentist appointment, or maybe at the gym; I guess I pulled this place-card out of my bag, not having any other paper on me at the time, and jotted it down.
It’s really good, and I hope you will enjoy it as much as we did.
(for a full cake variation of these brownies, see the Nutella Cake with Whipped Cream recipe)

Ingredients:
- 150 grams (5.25 ounces) butter
- 150 grams (5.25 ounces) bittersweet chocolate (in the U.S. use semi-sweet chocolate)
- 175 grams (6.10 ounces) “Nutella” chocolate-nut spread
- 1 cup sugar
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 4 eggs
- 1 cup of flour
- pinch of salt
Preparation:
- In a medium size pot, placed on another pot with water (the top pot should not touch the water in the bottom pot), place the butter and the chocolate. Heat carefully, until the chocolate and butter melt. Mix with whisk or large spoon.
- Add the sugar and the Nutella spread, and mix with whisk.
- Add the vanilla extract and the 4 eggs, one after the other, mixing with whisk till all four eggs are mixed into the chocolate mixture.
- Add the flour and salt, and mix with whisk only till all the flour is incorporated.
- Prepare a baking pan – size: approximately 30 cm x 22 cm (approx. 12 inches x 8 inches). Grease the pan, and place baking paper (parchment paper) cut to the right size. After placing baking paper on pan, grease it too.
- Pour in batter and bake in medium oven 180 C (350 F) for 30 minutes.
- When ready, remove from oven, and let cool on rack.
- When cooled, cut into squares or diamond shapes.
TIP: You can make this recipe in a round baking pan, and then it can be served as a chocolate cake cut into wedges.
If you prepare it this way, you can always pour a nice ganache chocolate cream over the cake, or serve it as is. Or check out the Nutella Cake recipe.
